One of the portraits during the lecture that really stood out to me was her self portrait "The Broken Column". When I first saw the image I never really knew why parts of her body had been cut, nailed together, strapped and also the revealing of her spinal column. I also noticed with her portraits that she liked to express the things she thought were bad about herself, for example her monobrow has been made to look more extreme than what it does in real life.
When I did a little bit of research and found out the reasons for this portrait it made perfect sense. It just shows how brave she was to paint this after the accident she suffered, and that is why I admire her courage and art.
