Invasion of the body Snatchers - Post so far - (work in progress)

Based on Jack Finney’s Novel, The movie, ‘Invasion of the body snatchers’ is arguably one of the best classical Science Fiction movies.

The movies plot consists of a Dr trying to convince his fellow countrymen that his small urban town has been overrun by imposters, alien seedlings which take the form of their human counterparts.

This Movie is an excellent piece of Science Fiction movie making which to this day still has a creepy and uncanny effect on its audience. None of the town folk wants to believe that there are strange things going on throughout the town. People tend to dismiss the fact that the uncanny has arrived. This perfect little secluded town, peaceful and serine has now become target to an eerie and unnatural presence within it.

This film was very strange, within the small little suburban social town, everybody knew each other. It became possible to tell that people were acting very weird. Something did not feel right. You could tell which people were imposters by the way the music changed throughout the scenes and also the way each of the characters were very monotone. The way they went about their everyday

The only way it was possible for people to know whether their family and close friends had been cloned as an imposter was their lack of emotion. Down to the last hair on the imposters head was a perfect match to the real thing. They were able to duplicate every last memory of their host down to the finest detail. But with everything comes some sort of defaulted problem and with the body snatchers it became adamant that they weren’t able to show any kind of emotion. One of the purest examples of this in the movie was when the character Rebecca witnesses a dog about to face death. She screams, which alerts a policeman who becomes very suspicious.

The screen shot above is a scene from the movie itslef. This image is from when the Dr first whitnesses the evolving of an unususual being. This is the first scene were the doctors beliefs of an invasion begin to be back ed up by actual evidence.

The Movie Trailer (1956)

Remakes, This film has been remade twice since the movies debut in 1956. In 1978 the film was re-released by director Philip Kaufman. Unlike its predecessor, the 1976 remake of invasion of the body snatchers was set in a different part of America. Instead of using a little suburban town they decided they would move the setting of the film to San Francisco. The plot of the movie however remains the same as the 1956 version.

The most recent remake of this movie was released in 2007 starring Nichole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
The remake, The Invasion became the second remake of the classic 1956 Sci-Fi movie, invasion of the body snatchers. The film has become more dependant on the CG. It has been more dramatised straying away from the original. Instead of poddlings, the main plot of this film involves a space shuttle coming back to earth. on earths arrival the shuttle explodes shooting fragments of the ship which contained an alien virus which clones and records human DNA.
