Idea 2 - Hiding Identity

Preliminary Idea 2

This is really based among one idea on hiding identity. What i am trying to say is who am I, Who are we. Obviously my names Adam Bailey aged 21 from Faversham :s. I'm talking about perception of an identity. Everyone percieves everyone differently, therefore what am I like. My first idea was to use a photoshop technique to blur out parts of my face which I think could be a gateway to my soul. Without these facial features do I have a soul, or an identity, and can you see my emotions without them? In this picture I was pulling a silly face just for an experiment. I was using this idea to mask over areas of the face becuase I personally am not sure what my true persona is, based on what i have been told in the past.

I thought this was a decent idea but only based on a first attempt which i aimed to rectify as I developed the idea. The idea developed through a stage of where i would like to modernise the work and try and give it a more urban style to it. This bought me to look at "Andy Warhole". His Portraits of famous People have been done in a pop art style basing on many colours. Below one of his more famous portraits of "Marilyn Monroe".

So, not using the exact style I was a paint brush tool in photoshop and created a more urban look among the face to create a more uplifting style.

I liked the resulting image but i still thougt this was too plain, why the yellow paint? Then It hit me. Why didn't I create a composition of images in a passport style strip. But why. I wanted to display different expressions which show different moods.
My intention is to use four different moods, Anger, Happiness, Depression and Amiable. I want to use different colour paints to cover the face which i think symbolize each mood. For example the color red would be used to cover the face that shows anger and so on.

Preliminary Idea 2.5

I gathered these reference pictures from the internet which i have been using to layout the final piece of work.

These are the layout styles I have been brainstorming in my sketchbook but i thought it looked better if i used reference pictures instead of my drawings. What the hell ill put in the rough sketches anyway.

This is an image i found whilst looking at the Times newspaper. I really found this image exciting and engaging and similar to ideas I have produced in this project. I really relate this picture to Albrehct Durers self portraits because of the way it idolises people.
