Some of the artists in this book I have found to be very useful in this project, so below is a small list of the artists and some of their work I found using this book which I found Influential.
Aziz + Cucher
One of the images I found in this book which related to me and my idea on hidden identity was a digital photograph by "Aziz + Cucher". Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher are two digital artists which immediately had my attention with their work. They have been collaborating their digital portraits and scultures since 1991. never really came from an artistic background so I have never really had a knowledge of artists as such. This is a reason for really enjoying this project. I have filled my brain with lots of fascinating art knowledge which I never knew existed.
I really like these digital photographs below which are done by Aziz and Cucher. To me each of the people are showing a particular feeling. This is a very clever way to show emotion through a portrait but to be a bit different to any normal portrait. The faces are covered up which give me a cold feeling, they a creepy and unnerving but at the same time spectacular. The portraits have been done so well the viewer is able to understand the portraits feelings even without showing the main facial features.
The image above I found very interesting. You can clearly tell this man is hurting, or can you. Is he sleeping, Is he thinking or is he just sad. Without the facial features it proves much harder to tell a persons true identity. This I found to be the case in the next image. As this post is being updated I find this a perfect image to relate to the trans gender post I very recently added to my blog. I'm not sure about other people but is the image below two men eloping? Take a closer look, are they boys or are they girls? Even now this image messes with my mind.
You would think it would be easy to tell someones identity just by looking at them even without some of the features. The image above is only missing the eyes and mouth and look how confusing it is to tell what gender they are. Does this mean we all look the same deep down or is this a statement to say we are all equal, men and women.
