Hey guys just want to give you a quick update on were I am work wise and also mind wise. So yesterday I was really looking forward to going into the lecture to see the guys from Nexus when I get a call saying, you cant have today off as someone else has phoned in sick. I must say I don't usually get so angry but in this case a really did. I ended up in a row with my supervisor telling her it was really important to me and that I needed to be at Uni because I wanted to be there. Anyway, I ended up on a disciplinary which means I have no more warnings, which I think is a joke as I was only voicing my opinion. The only thing that is stoping me leaving the job is the money, which I need for travel and rent. Anyway sorry about the rant, back to the updates.
So I have nearly finished my storyboards, They are in pen so what I'm going to do is scan them in today at university and touch them up with the graphics tablet. I will probably add different shades of grey to get the effect I want, plus add some colors to important parts of the animation such as the Slime Mould etc. Hopefully by today I would have put everything into Premier Pro with all of my transitions ready for a completed Animatic only leaving me to add some of the sounds after tutorials tomorrow. If I can manage this then I will have the weekend to finish any concept art pieces which I have been working on plus key scenes within my Pre-Viz, which I have already started experimented on. It looks like I'm on track and it feels kind of good, a little less stressful than usual.
I will keep you posted throughout the day just to let you know how the works going and any problems or eventful ideas I come up with.

I know, Bailey work can be a b***. many times, I felt if it wasn't for the money to survive I would rather be doing more interesting stuff.
Anyway, not to be a spoiler, the nexus presentation was really helpful to the point where Marc Davis showed the overall process of some animations, pre- production, production and pos-production.
And in the afternoon, we had 1 to 1 talk with him showing our works. etc...
Mainly the day, was emphasizing what Colin White and Squint Opera have said. The importance of brainstorming, visualizing your idea, produce it and ultimately pos-produce it.
Hmmm, sounds really interesting and yes sometimes work can be a bit... like you say, we could be doing more interesting stuff. I mean, I'm really getting into this project and would like all the time I can get. Good luck with the project :)
Hi Adam,
seriously where do you work? Many employers take advantage of students, often they do this becausethe students often do not know there rights and often desperate for the money. Do you have a contract of employment? How much notice did your boss give you? was it pre-booked holiday or was it a rest day? Also your company should have a grievance procedure, if you have an employee hand book details of it should be in there. As for the disciplinary, is that a formal warning, if it is I would be very interested to know if you were allowed representation of any sort (including another work place colleague), how much notice were you given, was there a formal investigation, duration of warning etc. Also start to keep a diary of all proceedings with your manager, make notes of times, the incidents and alsoany witnesses if there are willing to make a signed statement all the better. Eventually what you may be cataloguing could amount to bullying and/ or harrassment.
If you have a workplace union join it, it will cost a couple of quid a week but the reassurance of being able to call on someone, upto and including a paid area rep, should offset a small expense.
If you work in the retail industry USDAW or Unite are a good bet.
Keep me posted, I feel that a warning for voicing an opinion is unfair. Remember you do have rights, more than your employer would like you to know about.
